Corn. In 2019, Brazil became the largest corn exporter in the world, with shipments of 44.9 million tons, surpassing even the United States. In August last year, the daily average of exports was 332.8 thousand tons, and now in 2020, in the same month, it has increased to 408.5 thousand tons. A contributing factor to this is the growth in Brazilian cereal production over the years.

In recent years, Brazilian corn production for export has grown exponentially, bringing recognition and benefits to Brazilian agriculture. In 2020, Corn do Brasil exports accumulated 2 million tons, and even surpassed soybeans, in the first week of August, according to data from the brazilian federal government. In the two main Brazilian cereal-producing states, the safrinha harvest has already exceeded 90% of the area in Mato Grosso and one third in Paraná. The expectation for the second half is to intensify Corn shipments, gaining pace after the projected increase in volume projected for the country.

Corn exports from Brazil are expected to reach around 5.7 million tonnes in September, according to the National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec), which until last month estimated shipments of 4.78 million tonnes for September. In the same period last year, cereal exports were 5.7 million tons.
